Bike Fitting
Don Harris has been a PT for 24 years and a serious cyclist for nearly 30 years. He has 15 years of custom bike fitting experience, has been trained by Paul Swift of Bike Fit Systems, and utilizes methods from other experts in each bike fit.

Bike fitting ensures that the bicycle is fitted to the rider rather than making the rider fit the bike. Body dimensions vary greatly from person to person and therefore it is essential for the bike to fit properly to ensure maximal comfort, efficiency, and prevent injury. Additionally, most cycling related aches and pains can be alleviated with a proper bike fit.

Components of a Bike Fit:

  • A comprehensive musculoskeletal exam will determine flexibility, body dimensions, and alignment of hips, knees, and feet

  • Instruction and recommendations for appropriate exercises to address and prevent injuries

  • Saddle position including height, angle, and fore/aft position

  • Four dimensional foot position on the pedal

  • Handlebar height and reach

  • Recommendations for cycling technique

Foot Orthotics at MHPT
John Harrington, MPT and Don Harris, PT offer comprehensive foot evaluations and custom foot orthotics. John and Don each have over 20 years of expereince and extensive professional training in foot mechanics and orthotic fabrication.

Evaluation Includes:

  • Comprehensive assessment of standing, walking and running foot alignment and mechanics

  • Recommendations for orthotics or other interventions (such as strengthening and stretching exercises) based upon the above assessment
